Running, running, running.  My goal at the beginning of the year was to run a 5K each month this year and to run a marathon or 1/2 marathon.

Well it is now October and I have only missed three 5K's.  August, September I really stepped it up and began my training for the 1/2 marathon in Kansas City. The Waddell Reed 1/2 Marathon.

Drum roll please..... I ran the Waddell Reed 1/2 Marathon on October 19.  I ran it in 2:21.44.  I am very excited.  My only goal was to just finish the race.  The temp was 37 degrees to start the race.  It was chilly to say the least.

Running through Kansas City was AWESOME! I cannot wait until next year to do it again.

I am taking a week off and then I will start training and setting new goals.

Getting back to my goal!

Well it has been along time since I was here last.  WOW!!!  Where did the time go?

My goal was to run a 5K each month for the year of 2013.  I have only missed one month, May! Yep I have kept my goal except for May.  I have not been running all of the time either.  Meaning I am not on a regular running regimen.  I have ran each month for the last six months but not on a regular basis.  I have a run on the books for June and July.

I am bound and determined to get on a running schedule. I really want to run a 1/2 marathon in October. (This was part of my goal for the year as well.)

So starting tomorrow I will be starting my 14 week plan from the Women's Running magazine.  The temperature is supposed to be 85 degrees.  Not exactly my favorite running weather, but I will get out there and get moving.

Exhausting week

With 5 nights of basketball this week, it was hard to get a run in this week until Friday. I did workout on the elliptical Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Friday was a day to recover from all the nights in a gym.  I came home from work early, I was home by 9:30 a.m. My body was worn out. It was cloudy outside but the temperature was great, around 58 degrees. I wanted to go for a run, so I took a nap, ate lunch and after letting my lunch settle headed out the door.

My goal was to run my split mile around 10:40 per mile.  I didn't do too bad, I ran 2.88 miles, 11:27 per mile and ran it in 33:01. That was my fastest ever.  I am super STOKED.   I love my new Nike+ Sportswatch, I can now push myself.  I have never really pushed myself before.  I usually just keep track of how far I have run and I am always happy that I finished.

Goal for this week.
Next run will be 3.1 and hopefully I will shave a few more seconds off my time.  Hoping to get in a few more runs next week.  Only one game of basketball next week.

Goals for 2013

Goals for this year are to run a 5K each month. Half marathon in the spring or summer and if everything goes well a marathon in the fall.

Training started January 3rd.  Ran 2.25 miles in 27 minutes. Run was chilly.
Today I ran 2.95 miles in 35.35 minutes.  Run was cold/freezing.

Plan is to run every other day and do some kind of cardo/elliptical or other exercise on the off days.

I have my first 5K on the books for Jan. 27, the Ground Hog Run in KC.

I am very excited to get back to running. Running helps me clear my mind and relieve my stress.

I am also excited to use my new running gear I received for Christmas from my family. New running clothing and a new Nike GPS watch.

Happy Runnings!

2012 was a good running year

I don't know why I wasn't here?  I ran 3 5K's last year.  I ran most of the year until the weather got scorching hot. From July to November I was no where to be found well, except maybe the pool.  December I ran a few times.

I the Julia's Warrior Run, All-Star run in KC and the Omaha Color run.
