Beginning of a great week!

Okay today I made it to the gym - 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and a 30 minute walk on the treadmill.

Not such a bad start to a new week.

I ran across this race Run with Wife Race and Relax Contest. It looks like fun. I would someday like to go to other cities to run.

One day down and six more to go this week. It is going to be a rough week. Tomorrow is a long day, Wednesday is an afternoon at the Royals baseball game. Thursday is new do day(getting my hair done) and Dan E has a track meet. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking good.

Today starts a new week! I am so glad!

Nope I did not run yesterday. What is wrong with me? I know....I just got lazy and it was cold outside. I could have run on the dreadmill or did cardio, but no I did other things around the house.

I didn't even crack the new book I have...Run Like A Mother.

So, today starts a new week. I will not plan any runs. I do have a 5K schedule I was trying to follow. I think today is a day off?? I will do something just not sure what? I now feel sluggish...YUCK!!!

I don't think I have ever mentioned that I love to scrapbook. Well I do when I have time. But anyway the reason I bring this up is that over at Running Diva Mom she has a giveaway for scrapbooking your accomplishments. Check it out!

Week and Run Like a Mother

Why is it on my busiest days of the week I can run. Then on the days that are my least busy I fall apart and don't run a lick? I don't get it and I am not going to dwell on it. I am just going to run starting again tomorrow. My last run was on Tuesday:(

Wednesday night I don't remember what happened? Thursday was my daughters track meet, Friday I ate too much to even think about running and Saturday I went to my sons football game and took a nap. Saturday it rained most of the day.

I did go to the Borders book store this evening. I was just looking around and not for anything in particular. I had checked online and even at the store a few weeks ago to see if they had the book Run Like A Mother....no such luck. Tonight I was just milling around waiting on my daughter and decided to check and see if the book or some other running book might interest me. I am very excited to start reading the book.

Although I did not have a very good week of running...I have now been running for one month. I am excited. I am hoping this week that I can ad a bit to my run. I would like to start running 2.5 miles each time I run. It is supposed to rain tomorrow.

New Week

Yesterday was my day off from any workouts or running.

Today I had to work late but decided that I was going to get a run in some how. My daughter was at a track meet. I would have loved to have gone to her track meet but work would just not allow me to do so. I run a newspaper and Tuesday is the day was send the paper to print. I am dog tired. I brought sandwiches home for supper. I ate half a sandwich and then headed out to run.

It was a great night for a run. The air was nice and cool. I took the same route I did on Sunday. It was busy, I had to stop a couple times because of traffic. So I ran 2 miles at a pace of 11:23. My run felt pretty good especially after a tough day at work.

Back on Track and Thanks

First, I would like to thank everyone who has posted on my blog and started following me. I enjoy reading all of your blogs.

Yesterday I walked one mile and ran one mile. It was okay. I did feel better afterward and spent the rest of the day getting ready for my son and his friends to come from college.

Today I got back on track. I was up early...why? I don't know? I was up at 5am finally got out of bed at 5:30. Watched the movie Julie & Julia until 7:30, ate a light breakfast and at 9:30am I was out the door. Before leaving I went on-line and mapped out a run. I wanted to run 2 miles today. I didn't want a bunch of hills and I really just wanted to test the waters of a 2 miler on pavement. The weather was perfect. Can I just say
I DID IT!!! I ran 2 miles without stopping and a time of 11:03per mile. I was so excited. It felt great! I can honestly say I am back on track and this will be a great week!

Not a good week!

Well, this week did not gone well at all!

Of course Tuesday I had not planned on running and did not. Wednesday came and went. Thursday evening my daughter had her second track meet of the week. I drove an hour and a half to the track meet, track meet cancelled after an hour because of storms. Did not run again.
Friday I just didn't feel well and could not run. Sigh!

Am I a failure???? Maybe, but only this week! I will get back on track next week! I want to run for me! I still have today that I can run a few miles. I just won't make my goal for the week. I do realize that I won't always make my goals and some weeks are just going to be harder than others. Just wait until summer get here!

Hitting to the Streets

Yesterday was another day off. I ate too much for brunch! I should have ran but felt very bloated. Yuck!!

It was still a good day? I purchased a new sports bra...the Venus by Moving Comfort. Dick's sporting goods had them on sale. I love a sale. I also purchased some 10 pound weights.

Today is Monday, I got home from work and did a few things around the house. Tonight was the night I was going to try run the streets and I was excited. I wish I would have waited until just a little later in the evening to attempt this, I probably would have done better. But oh well! The run started out fine. I was really concentrating on not running to fast and my breathing. The first probably 1/4 mile was good and then there was the dreaded hill (like everyone talks about) it wasn't a very steep hill and I was used to walking it. I struggled. I pulled through and decided that if I made it a few more blocks that I could walk the next hill that was in my way. I made those blocks and then walked 2 blocks. I began running again and only walked when I was waiting for a car to pull out of the grocery store parking lot and when I was waiting for the stop light to change. All in all not to bad??? I am using Run Keeper on my iphone to track my runs. I don't like it very well. It doesn't seem to track very well. The first part of my run did not track. The second part of my run was .93 miles with a pace of 9.44 also during my this part of my run I did not listen to any music. I just concentrated on running. I love my new sports bra and the new shoes seem to be doing a great job as well.

Somewhere during my run, my right hip slipped out of place. It doesn't feel very well. Guess I will be heading to the chiropractor on Wednesday. I wish they were open on Tuesday's.

Tomorrow I will try to get in a couple miles on the treadmill. My daughter has a track meet. I will probably be watching more running than running for me tomorrow.

Good Week

Thursday and Friday were not good days. I did not workout in any way shape or form! The only workout I had was a little elbow workout. On Thursday evening I had a few beers. Then on Friday I wanted to run so bad but opted to rest one more day and even snuck in a little Cold Stone Creamery.
On Saturday morning I woke up and headed to the gym at 6:00am. I ran 2 miles on the treadmill and did a mile on the elliptical machine.
Mile 1 - 10:54
Mile 2 - 10:00

I am sure that I will be sore on Sunday...only because I played 3 games of kickball as well on Saturday.

I actually had six miles this week and I am very excited once again. I think I will be ready to increase a little next week.

Changing my Goal
I wanted to run the Trolley Run in KC on April 25th but have decided that I will postpone that run until next year. This has been my goal since I started running in March. On April 24th my son has a spring football game and the coach of the football team has a lot of activities planned for that day for the families. I really want to participate in these activities and do not think I will be physically ready for the run if I spend the day with my son and his team. My son is a sophomore in college and plays football for William Jewell College.

My new goal is a run that will take place on May 29th a 5K in St. Joseph.

It's Wednesday!

Today was a rough day at work. I am totally exhausted again. Monday and Tuesdays are busy days at work for me as well. But I pulled through.


I ran two miles on the treadmill tonight. Time of 10:54. My left shin keeps hurting occasionally during my runs. It basically just aches and not for very long. So after my run and stretching I am icing my shin.


I am hoping tomorrow to hit the gym. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Days off!

Wish I could have run yesterday and today. I have missed it. Weird to think that I am missing running??? Hhmmm Tomorrow is another day and I am looking forward to running.

Yesterday we had our annual family outing, opening day at Kaufman Stadium to watch the Royals. It was a bummer that our son Jared was unable to attend. He had football practice for spring ball. I am looking forward to watching him play again this fall. Needless to say the Royals did horrible and lost.

This evening my daughter had a track meet and that did not get over until around 8:30. It was great to watch her run. She ran the 400 and placed 6th and the 800 where she place 3rd.

I will run tomorrow!

No Bragging! Just excited!

Okay maybe a little bragging?

I am very excited tonight. I ran 2 miles at the track this evening. It felt great! I feel like I have gotten over the hump. Time was 20:46 but who is keeping time.
This also means I am about half way to my goal for the week.

I just want to be able to run four miles by April 25th.

It is supposed to be sunny and 70 some degrees today? But as I look out the window it is cloudy.

I reached my goal of five miles this week. I am pretty excited! I wasn't sure I would be able to accomplish it. I really wanted to run an extra mile yesterday but the wind was horrible and I just couldn't push myself. I think I may have started out running to fast? I ran at the track with my daughter Dan E. She ran and texted, she was making plans for the evening. A 14 year old with priorities.

Goal for this week = 5 miles - it will be difficult
Monday is opening day for the Royals. Looks like it will be stretching and exercises at home.
Tuesday my daughter has a track meet. Maybe a mile on the dreadmill.
Wednesday - Gym
Thursday - Mile
Friday - Gym
Saturday Hopefully go and watch my son at spring football practice.

Today has turned out to be a beautiful day. Had breakfast at 11:30 with my wonderful in-laws and family. Colored Easter Eggs with my daughter and son, and I have been busy getting the deck ready for summer.

If I get a real ambitious I might even get on the dreadmill yet???

Day Off

I took the whole day off from any kind of training. I wanted to go for a walk but decided not to do so. I am hoping the weather will be nice tomorrow.

Logging miles!

Yes....I made it two miles yesterday! Two miles 11:07. Time wasn't good but I made it and that is what counts for me at the moment. I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. It would have been nice to run outside since it was a great day but the wind was a little strong.


Today I only ran a mile. 1 mile 10:43. Time was better. I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill again.

I am feeling good about my daily runs. I would like to be able to run 4 miles without stopping. The Trolley Run in Kansas City is April 25 and my ultimate goal right now is to run in that race.

Tomorrow I will take the day off. I am not sore but my body is tired. Probably time to pick up the pace some and push myself. Saturday I will at least get the last of my goal in for the week and maybe and extra mile. It does feel good to be Running for Me!

I took my shoes back and got another pair. I love them.
